The Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Bishop Lawrence Mukasa, has commended the founders of St. Leonard School for their contribution to education and community development in Busujju Constituency, within Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
Bishop Mukasa, who was born and raised in Busujju, made the remarks during a visit to the school in Kakindu Sub-county, where he inspected ongoing developments and interacted with learners, teachers, and administrators.
Speaking during the visit, the bishop praised the school’s founders for investing in education and nurturing young people through values-based learning.
“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming communities. The founders of this school have played a significant role in shaping the future of many children in this area,” Bishop Mukasa said.
He encouraged learners to make the most of the educational opportunities available to them and remain focused on their studies in order to achieve their future aspirations.
“You have been given a platform to learn and grow. Use it wisely, work hard, and become responsible citizens who will contribute positively to society,” he told the students.
As part of his visit, Bishop Mukasa planted a commemorative tree at the school, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and the need to protect nature for future generations.
The Kabaka’s Chief in Busujju County, Israel Maaso Lubega, also applauded the institution for its contribution to cultural and community development initiatives.
“St. Leonard School has not only promoted academic excellence but has also actively supported Buganda Kingdom programmes and community activities,” he said.
The school’s founders, Ssalongo Leonard Mukasa and Nalongo Annet Nankya Mukasa, expressed gratitude to Bishop Mukasa for visiting the institution and blessing its efforts.
“We are honoured by the bishop’s visit. This school was established on strong Christian values and remains open to learners from all religious backgrounds without discrimination,” said Ssalongo Leonard Mukasa.
Annet Nankya Mukasa noted that the school was founded with a vision of providing quality education while nurturing discipline, integrity, and strong moral values among learners.
Students who spoke during the event pledged to work hard and make the most of the opportunities provided by the institution.
“We are inspired by the bishop’s message and the progress of our school. We shall continue working hard in our studies and uphold the values we are taught,” one learner said.
The visit underscored the growing role of educational institutions in promoting academic excellence, moral development, environmental conservation, and community transformation in Busujju and the wider Kiyinda-Mityana region.
